Hail Grandmother Night!

In the beginning was darkness, and the darkness was good. And the darkness surrounded all things and embraced them with her warm presence. And the Gods declared the darkness must be adorned for all her azure beauty, and threw up into the sky sparks of fire to glow and pulsate against her ebony cloak, and ever since, all good souls have looked up and felt comfort and awe at her many-hours passings.

Hail Grandmother Night! Mother of Mother Earth! Daughter of the Keepers of the Wells! Mother of Earth, and Sea, and Day! Hail the Darkness that holds and keeps us safe in the wee hours as she guards against monsters! Hail the silence and the mystery, guardian of the dreaming-time, Mother of the Vanir! Hail Nott!
